Have you ever heard of the Myanmar Air Force
Or how about the indestructible Myanmar Missile Defense System?
As cyclone refugees wait, Myanmar refuses aid
According to the international Red Cross, the death toll alone is probably about 128,000, with many more deaths possible from disease and starvation unless help gets quickly to some 2.5 million survivors of the disaster. But seeing that help gets to the victims is not the first priority of Myanmar’s rulers. The military, which took power in a 1962 coup, says all aid must be delivered to the government for distribution and has barred foreigners from leaving Yangon, putting up a security cordon around the country’s main city.
The point is why doesn’t the UN just start dumping supplies. The people are at a critical point and any help is better than no help which is what they have now. The UN sends in troops and supplies and politely ask the “so understanding and compassionate” military junta to stay in Yangon for their own protection.
But that poses another question, doesn’t it. Have you ever heard of the UN doing anything in a timely, effective manner?
