Does anyone actually listen to these calls? You know, the ones where you say, “Hello” and hearing an answer a recorded message starts, “Hello, this is God calling to talk about Amendment 8″ and then it goes on for who knows how long because I always disconnect before I find out its Arnold, or God, or Obama, or McCain.
Do you listen? I think only folks that listen are trying to figure out who the heck is calling or maybe someone who is really lonely. Can you talk back at the end? Can you interrupt? But you do have the ultimate power – you can hang up.
It is especially disappointing in California where it is illegal to make automated phone calls. Of course this is easy to get around by just having someone in Nevada or Alabama do it. Makes me wonder about any California politician who would break a state law through a loop-hole. Doesn’t that testify just slightly to character? I mean, maybe next week, they’ll just take a little money from VECO drilling or someone else who likes to gain favors.
