Getting ready for the new window

After removing the main piece of glass I was left with a band of broken glass glued to the weather stripping. Removing that took a couple of hours and required a shower afterwards as my arms were covered with flakes and bits of glass. If you have to do something like this, make sure you wear safety glasses as there is a lot of  glass popping around.

Now I just have the weather stripping to get rid of. I went by an auto repair place to see if they could remove it and was told the glass company will remove it when I get the new glass. I couldn’t get them to understand “the glass” company in this case is Sportsmobile and I would rather get this step out of the way.

So now, I have trimmed about 3/4 of the weather stripping from about a 1/4″ thick to maybe 1/32″ and 3m Adhesive remover seems to have some effect but . . . the hardest part is thinning the stripping without scratching the paint underneath. All of this will be covered by the new window but unless removed I think it could cause the new window to not mount flush.

If anyone has any hints on removing rubber attached to the Sprinter with some kind of super, super glue please let me know.

Had remove some chrome trim and re-attach it. Tried Goo Gone and then WD -40 for the left over double sided tape. The WD 40 seemed to help the most – put it on and wait a few minutes – then try.
