My bad . . . I need to crawl underneath the Sprinter more often

Right after we got the Sprinter I installed a larger sway bar that I purchased at the Sprinter Store. It has helped a lot in the wind. I found out how much this weekend.

I was at Rocklin Mercedes Benz having some service work done and the tech pointed out to me that I was missing a bracket onphoto of missing sway bar bracket the passenger side for the sway bar. The bushing that covers the bar and goes inside the bracket was still there so it had not been too long since I lost. I don’t know how much time it took to work loose but I think, had I bothered to look, I would have noticed it when it got real loose.

I called the Sprinter Store right then and a replacement is on the way. In the meantime, I had to drive home from Rocklin through some real heavy winds. It was a challenge to say the least. I was blown all over the road especially once I turned west off I5 towards home. One gust picked the Sprinter up (I swear!) and moved me over into the next lane by a couple of feet – I heard the tires squeal as we landed and the cruise control disabled itself.

So, two things . . . if you have a sway bar check the brackets and fittings and second if you don’t have a sway bar call the Sprinter Store. The difference is amazing.

Well, it turns out that is a Mercedes part. Had I known that in the beginning I could have had it here next week. Now it will barely make it before I head off the Capital Reef. Oh well, “stuff” happens.
