Larrabee State Park, day 2

Monday, August 4th, 2008
Starring the one and only - Debbie!

After a very long drive we arrived just in time for Debbie to perform in the Larrabee Bowl.

We stopped in Seattle to see friends. What a great place they have - no need to ever vacation!

Our second night camp

It basically rained all day and night. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest!

This was the first time we slept in the bus without taking some gear outside. It worked out fine.

Larrabee is reservation only for camping. The best way to get there is exit 250 in Bellingham, then follow Hwy 11. That exit is also the one you want for the ferry.

There were small crabs (dead) on the beach and several people there crabbing. The camp ground is primordial looking - dark, thick brush with tall trees. There are some good hikes available. It is hard to find a real level site.

Oregon, day 1

Monday, August 4th, 2008
Yes, it is Harry and David's - like the catalog Up the 5, we headed north towards the first nights camp at Valley of the Rogue State Park. We stopped in Medford, Oregon, to visit the home of Harry and Davids. We decided we would stop again on the way home and do some more serious shopping.
Our first night camp

Oregon parks are always so great to camp in. We don’t know how they keep them so green, clean, and graffiti free.

Tommorrow we have a long drive through the rest of Oregon and most of Washington.

Sprinter and SMB get-2-gether

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Saturday we had a get-2-gether and a lots of fun. We had 5 or 6 Sprinters there, 2 from SMB. We also had 4 or 5 great 4wd Sportsmobiles and one owner with his Sprinter on the production line at SMB in Fresno. Lots to look at, learn about and talk about!

Here we are

Tony was there with his Lopes 55 Special from Sportsmobile (the red one). That is quite the deal with the stereo system, satellite dish, etc. More on that here http://www.sportsmobile.com/3_bikes.html.

These are some pics silkwan (from a different forum) took - he apoligized for the contrast - too busy talking. Thank goodness someone was taking pictures!

and again

After Saturday I decided to upgrade the bus’s shocks and sway bar. Also, as soon as I win the lottery, I am getting a CJ5 to pull behind our Sprinter so I can join some of the 4wd Sportsmobile parties. :^)

 and yet again.

Had there been a contest, no doubt I would have won but there would have been some close seconds. One 4wd was about the same color as mine and just impeccable.

I am hoping the next get-2-gether we will have some different branded Sprinters and maybe a Class C or two.

I think almost everyone learned one thing or another about Sprinters, SMB 4w drives, how-to’s etc. We had lots of goodies, beer, water, etc. but the group seemed pretty shy about drinking so Tony and I helped make up for it. Hey, the kids wouldn’t even take cookies! Next time it will have to be a bbq. And somewhere shady!
